Eva got involved in Search and Rescue activities in 1990 with her first dog Shasta.
She trained and State certified her in wilderness, evidence and cadaver. Her certified dog today is a Border Collie named Ness and they specialize in Human Remains Detection.

Shirley has more than 30 years of SAR experiences. Has certified three of her own dogs in area search, cadaver, disaster, evidence and water. As a Training Advisor she has mentored many teams through the SAR certification process. Since 1986 Adela has been involved in search and rescue, specializing in human remains detection. She has trained and certified her dogs in Area/Wilderness searching, Human Remains Detection (land and water), and Evidence Searching. She now specializes solely in Human Remains Detection with her dogs. She is the founder of the Institute for Canine Forensics, Director and founder of Canine Specialized Search Team (CSST) a volunteer resource for the County of Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.
She is also conducting research on residual scent in an unused building. How long can a trained dog locate residual scent from various decomposing human remains.

Human Remains Detection Canine Handler
Ms. Patti O'Neill-Esposito joined K9 Forensics in June of 2007. She also works with Annika primarily focused on Historical Human Remains Detection. Annika was born on May 7, 2005, achieving her Schutzhund B title on January 20, 2007 and her Schutzhund I on December 2, 2007.
Patti is a proven dog trainer in the disciplines of obedience, protection and tracking. She has brought two dogs to the Schutzhund B level, and is working towards Annika’s Schutzhund III title.Commendations:
Patti is active in the community. She is currently serving on the Board of Books Aloud, which is a nonprofit organization which puts books and other literature on tape for those who cannot read by conventional methods. She is also on the Planned Giving Advisory Council for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. She has been on the Board of Christmas in the Park and Junior Achievement.
Ms. O'Neill-Esposito is a certified public accountant. She has over twenty years of accounting, tax, and business experience. She has held positions such as the managing partner of Brooks Stednitz & Rhodes Accountancy Corporation and the managing partner of the San Jose office of Sterck Kulik O'Neill accounting group, inc.
Patti heads up the Tax and Accounting Division of Rundquist & Associates, LLP. She specializes in complex tax issues and planning for corporations, large families with intricate ownership issues, partnerships, trusts, estates, and individuals. She has also worked with small and medium sized businesses to help them better understand their business. With a better understanding of their business, they can operate more efficiently and become more profitable.

Sal joined the Institute for Canine Forensics in March of 2007. He works with his K-9 partner Annka primarily focused on Historical Human Remains Detection. Annika was born on May 7, 2005, achieving her Schutzhund B title on January 20, 2007.
Sal is a certified trainer working with Santa Clara County providing programs in Criminal Justice Information Systems Technology and Diversity. Sal served 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Santa Clara County. Assigned to the Patrol Division he assisted in several searches. He has experience in crime scene preservation, evidence gathering, report writing and courtroom testimony. Sal began training in Schutzhund in 1977 in preparation for canine assignment with the Sheriffs’ Office.

Historical Human Remains Detection Canine Handler
In 2004, David and his K9 partner, Emma, began extensive training in Area K9 Wilderness Search and Rescue. In 2007, they transitioned to Historical Human Remains Detection and plan to specialize solely in this important and fascinating new field that was pioneered by ICF. David is also an active member of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit, and the California Rescue Dog Association for field support. He has found that there is nothing more rewarding than the bond, trust and partnership shared between a search dog and handler, and is passionate about using that partnership to help unveil and preserve the stories and secrets from the past.

I have been training for HRD and historical work for 2 years. Alice is a registered black Labrador age 4 years. Alice is also a multi titled gun dog and is trained to AKC master level. I am a graduate with a BA from Milles College 1972 and completed all but one semester of my MFA. I attended and completed the AKC Canine Health Foundation Breeders Symposium May 17, 2006 Human Remains Detection Workshop by Institute for Canine Forensics at NASA Ames Research Center in California Jan 12-14, 2007, and Society for Theriogenology 2007 Breeders Session Saturday August 11, 2007.
To date Alice and I have apprenticed on two historical searches:
The Tong Cemetery in El Dorado County and Mission San Jose in Fremont, California
Evidence Search for Los Altos Police Department July23, 2007 - 16 year old murder case, looking for evidence.

Carmen Lucas

Kwaaymii, Laguna Band of IndiansCarmen is a Kwaaymii, Laguna Band of Indians. She was born and raised in San Diego, California and spent all free time on the ancestor homelands in Laguna Mountains, surrounded with her ancestor heritage.
1974, after retiring from the United States Marine Corps, Carmen entered the Collage of the Desert, where she studied Art History for a period of two years. In 1976, she relocated to her ancestral home in Laguna Mountains where she continues to live today.
Since the 1980's, Carmen participated in, and continues to work overseeing Archaeological surveys. She works with various Archaeological Resource Management Companies throughout San Diego and Imperial County, as well as the California State Parks, the California State Parks Off Road Recreation Parks, Ocotillo Wells and the U.S. Forest Service in the capacity of crew member and/or Native American Monitor as appropriate. She served as a Board member of the San Diego Archaeological Center from 1999 to 2005. Carmen is currently a member of the San Diego Historical Sites Board and have served that Board since 2003.
